Survivor Tocantins Episode 4

Crazy-Eyed Sandy was finally eliminated. Tocantins was not a good a season. I actually thought they were going to eliminate Sydney over Sandy. Sandy brought the crazy. I thought it was funny that Jeff accused Taj of being jealous of Sydney when she is married to Eddie George of all people.

The cross-tribal alliance was smart. Hopefully, it will work out in Taj’s favor. I never thought Sierra was much of a Survivor player, but I guess I was wrong. Poor Erin. She should not have gone on the show if she could be barely social with people in a social game.

The reward challenge was interesting. Why didn’t Coach hold the weight since he likes to tell us how great he is? I found it funny how the last person standing on both sides were women since women are always considered the weakest in Survivor.

The Amazing Race 14 Episode 9

Every season at the latter stages of the race, meltdowns ensue. This season is no exception to that rule. This season’s showdown happened between Luke and Jen. Let’s breakdown the fights. By the way, I absolutely hate the whole “tonight on” segment.

Luke vs. Jen Part 1

At the first clue box Jen tried to grab the clue while she was behind Luke. Luke could have been startled considering he is deaf and might not have heard her come up behind him. Honestly, Jen came off much worse in this fight.

Luke vs. Jen Part 2

The second part of this fight happened when Luke and Jen were in a foot race to get another clue. The first thought that went through my head was why didn’t Kisha or Margie decide to get the clue instead? I thought this one was clearly Luke’s fault. He clearly pushed Jen down the hill to regain his balance.

Luke vs. Jen Part 3

The episode ended with the two teams having a heated confrontation at the check-in mat with Phil. I thought Luke acted like a spoiled brat. I don’t think Kisha laughed at him maliciously, I know from experience that people do laugh at tense situations. I did not lose that much respect for Margie because a parent will always defend their kid, especially one with a disability. Poor Tami and Victor having to stand through that awkward encounter.

It’s too bad that the stuntmen were eliminated even though they deserved it. They were actually in shape and could hold their own against some of the younger contestants.

Survivor: Tocantins Premiere

Survivor goes back to Brazil this season. The season premiere did not live up to the hype it was getting. The twist was good, but it did not really have much of an effect on the overall episode.

So the big question of the night was would you rather look for the immunity idol or build the shelter for the team and prepare camp? Well it is a hard one because the immunity idol saves you from the first vote. However, you can make a great first impression with your tribe. Well it doesn’t matter this episode because Sandy did not get voted off.

Sierra having strep throat and a fever of 102 degrees is just crazy. How is she out in the hot Brazilian sun? I don’t blame her for doing the show; I would do it in a heartbeat even if I was sick to quote the lovely Jeff Probst “It’s an adventure of a lifetime”.

Wow I just found out that Taj is married to Eddie George who was a Heisman Trophy winner also she is part of a group that was nominated for a Grammy. Also, Coach came off badly; his soccer team that he coaches already has fired him. I guess he will change his nickname at the reunion.

Thanks Jeff Probst I never knew that 53 was considered old. From his comments at tribal council you would have thought she was 70. I never knew understood why on reality shows any age over 35 was old. I can understand in the Brazilian heat they might be worried, but still 53 is not that old.

Well, let’s hope this season is better then the premiere!

Hell’s Kitchen Season 5 Episode 2

Hell’s Kitchen is the most entertaining cooking show on television right now. Gordon Ramsey cursing out contestants and being blunt is a television gold mine. The second episode of this season was no exception.

First off kudos to the editors I did not think Ji was actually going to go home. I was sure that Colleen or Lacy was going to pack there bags. Oh yeah Lacey what a character crying in bed for six hours is not going to get you the win.

I also had no idea that scallops came in big shells. I thought the girls were going to win the challenge of course because the boys have been incompetent up to this point. I was pleasantly surprised how close the competition was, I love the editing they do it every episode whenever the score is close they cut to commercial break.

I hope the fact that Robert had to take the ferry instead of the helicopter because he was 400 pounds is a wake up call for him that he needs to loose the weight. I cannot believe someone that young could be that heavy

Seth was called a stalked by Gordon Ramsey for knowing information about Ramsey. I do not think Seth was a stalker because all of the information he said about Ramsey could be found in any biography about his life. If he knew what Ramsey was doing on a day to day basis then yeah I would consider Seth a stalker.

I was surprised of course that both teams were able to complete dinner service on the second outing. I am positive that this is the first time that this has happened in Hell’s Kitchen history.

American Idol Hollywood Week Part 2

Hollywood Week is my favorite part of American Idol. It always delivers the drama and the group performance part is the absolute best part, the last couple seasons Hollywood Week hasn’t been that great, but this seasons group performance drama made up for the past couple seasons.

Tatiana Del Torto brought the crazy. Wow she creates drama in her own group leaves her group goes to another group creates drama there and then leaves that group to go back to her original group.

Bikini Girl caused drama with her girl too. She decided to go to sleep unprepared well the rest of her group stayed up. The next morning she decided to sleep-in and get up right before her group was set to perform.

Her group performed and it was a disaster. Finally Simon asked the group what happened and she was eliminated. Of course the drama did not end there, when the group gave there final interview Bikini Girl declared she did not like the other group members fakeness.

Another weird thing about this year’s Hollywood Week is that they kept making up names for each group. Team Compromise, White Chocolate, and The Diva’s. How lame why make up names for each group like they are at sleep away camp.

Well that’s it for group performance on this year’s American Idol hopefully they won’t get rid of them next year like they did last year.

The Bachelor Season 15 Episode 6

When The Bachelor hits the final four it is time for the hometown dates. Season 15 provided some classic Bachelor moments. Poor Naomi she will always be remembered in Bachelor history as the girl whose mom buried a dead dove. Not only that she will then be remembered as the girl has whose dad loved Jesus.

Besides that the rest of the dates were boring. Jillian has a normal family with a few issues. Molly is preppy and comes from money. Melissa’s parents do not show up and she has relationship issues supposedly.

I do not think it’s a big deal her parents did not show up. My parents would never show up in a million years. So yeah I think Jason is being a little overdramatic. I still can’t believe in a couple of episodes Jason will be the biggest tool in Bachelor history.

Chet/Devyn Incident

If you blinked while watching The Real World Wednesday night you would have missed it. Chet decided to play a prank on Devyn by taking the sheet off her bed while she was basically naked. She was only wearing her underwear.

This incident reminds people of an incident that happened on The Real World fifteen years ago. David and Tami were horsing around and next thing you know David takes the sheets off of Tami while she is only in her bra and underwear. Another cast mate Beth then accuses David of raping Tami and then gets David kicked off the show.

The main difference between the two similar incidents is that Devyn did not accuse Chet of anything. Also, Devyn did not seem that upset from what we saw on television. The one ting I wonder is if this topic will come up on the reunion show.

Well know that we got that topic out of the way. Let’s talk about the rest of the episode. I felt bad for Ryan the look in his face looked like a puppy that got kicked too many times. All I know is that it really sucks to have to fight in Iraq and not even believe what you’re fighting for.

Scott is the classiest cast member this season. I thought his idea for the journal for Ryan was a heart felt moment that I haven’t seen on this show in a long time. I liked the fact that he did not make a big deal about Katelynn gambling the money he loaned her, even though Chet was trying to instigate a confrontation between the two.

How surprised is everyone about Baya and Ryan dating?

The Bachelor Season 14 Episode 5

Jason Mesnick isn’t the most popular guy right know, because he dumped Melissa on television. I decided to watch the episode where the ladies go back to Seattle, when Jason was considered a likeable guy.

This episode was probably one of the least dramatic episodes I have ever seen of the Bachelor; the final five girls Molly, Melissa, Stephanie, Jillian and Naomi were all likeable at this point.

The episode starts off with the girls going to Seattle to see Jason in his everyday life. I do not think that house Jason was living in was his real house. That’s a good thing because people are crazy these days and he could get stalkers at his real house.

I thought Melissa and Jason were cute together. I thought it was nice when she picked up after the half-eaten pizza assuming the role as the wife. From her facial reaction when Jason canceled her date you could tell she was upset. I don’t blame her if he really took a half hour to call. I would be upset too. I thought she sucked it up and realized that this is Jason’s regular life.

The group date was interesting. You could definitely get the vibe that the three girls are friends. I was confused about the radio show. Was it airing or were they saving it to air the show at a later date? How awkward for Naomi and Melissa to hear the whole thing. I think they were only talking about the three girls that were at the station.

The date with Naomi was strange. She appears younger than 24. It’s not a big deal unless you are on a dating show and the end goal is to be engaged. Also, on this season you are going to become a step-mother. I do not see Naomi being a step-mother this soon.

The unexpected one-on-one with Jillian was nice, but I did not see any romantic chemistry between the two. She was also this season’s token, I did this on a lark girl. It appears that she has a fun personality.

Well, Stephanie’s elimination was not a real shocker. I really wanted to dislike her, but I couldn’t. She was just too normal.

The Real World Brooklyn- Sarah, JD & Devyn

The Real World this season has been dominated mostly by Ryan and Katelynn. Rightfully so since they both have unique stories that have not been told before. Ryan is in the Army and Katelynn is transgender.

Let’s talk about some of the other characters on the show. First there is Sarah who is an art therapist, something I did not know existed as an occupation. She has to deal with real issues on the show, which is refreshing. I also have this theory that her dad got her phone number from production because they probably do a background check on all these cast members.

J.D. has to be considered one of the worst drunks I have seen on this show. He always gets into a fight with someone when he drinks. You would think he would lay off the liquor already.

Oh Devyn, how embarrassing to try to go to Manhattan and end up in New Jersey of all places. I was surprised that she did not call up the casting agent to let him know she would be late. Her crush on Scott is awkward to watch. I hated her excuse about the sing off. I always figured that singers are always ready. Her hair is also a huge distraction.

Oh yeah, I am a loyal viewer of American Idol, but I do not recognize J.D.’s friend from the audition phase at all. If I have to hear J.D.’s “I was drunk” excuse one more time I am not going to be happy.

American Idol 8-Phoenix Auditions

Tonight’s American Idol was postponed due to Barack Obama’s speech. So I decided to re-watch the first episode of Season 8. I forgot if any of the finalists came from Phoenix, plus I miss watching American Idol three times a week.

So did anyone memorable come from Phoenix? Well, yes - Bikini Girl and Scott MacIntyre. I also thought Kara DioGaurdi came off very well for her first episode.
I have to say I hated the idea of a fourth judge, but she is doing a great job.

Also, why were there 20 minutes of filler before the first audition? I understand that they want ratings, but you would think the producers could give us an audition. They wouldn’t need to fill the time going over the opportunities David Cook has gained by being on American Idol.

The funniest moment of the episode was how uncomfortable Ryan Seacrest was when Bikini Girl wanted to make out with him. Seacrest’s excuse was wonderful: “It’s against the rules”

Oh yeah, am I the only one who thought Kara looked like Katherine McPhee? Seriously, at one point I actually thought it was her. Good thing Kara is on three seasons later or that would be freaky.

Another great part that I forgot about was right at the beginning with the elementary school girls having a meltdown when David Cook won. I wonder if the producers are trying to send a message that they wished the other David won.

The most shocking moment was that Taylor Hicks was shown. I thought American Idol would try to get rid of him forever and pretend that no one won Season Five. The editing of this Audition Episode was different than the last couple seasons auditions.

It was pretty weird seeing a young Ryan Seacrest with his wonderful blonde highlights next to Brian Dunkelman during the “This is American Idol” montage. Yeah, I wonder if Dunkelman ever got his show he was pitching on-air?

It’s also great that all of these Reality Shows are now in HD. It definitely makes the show better. It’s kind of funny when you compare how overproduced these auditions look now and then compare them to Season One.

Conspiracy Theory Alert-Paula’s contract is up at the end of this season. So does everyone think Kara will replace her? I don’t think they have renewed Paula’s contract yet. This could be very interesting.

The Real World Secrets: Revealed

This special aired awhile ago on MTV to give the viewers a look at what goes on behind the scenes on the popular television show The Real World. Some of the information was surprising, but most of it at least in my opinion wasn’t so surprising.

I wonder how much the average viewer was really surprised about. I wish they focused on the casting and what makes the cast members they choose so interesting. I don’t mean characters like Paula from Key West and Brad from San Diego.

Honestly, why do they cast people like Baya from Brooklyn and Melanie from Philadelphia if we never see them? If anyone is actually reading this you are probably trying to rack your brain and figure out who the latter person is, and if Brooklyn wasn’t airing right know you would try to figure out who Baya was. Was she the dancer in the season with the army guy and transgender?

The special reminded me of some of the older seasons of the Real World when it was actually somewhat significant and was not a place to watch drunken debauchery.

Speaking of that, why are they making a movie about Pedro Zamora? Wouldn’t it make more sense to just air footage of him on his season and have that play out as a movie instead? For those who don’t know, Pedro Zamora was a cast member on The Real World San Francisco who had AIDS. The finale of his season he was married to his boyfriend Sean who he met in San Francisco. He died the day after his season’s finale aired.

Before I end this blog post, how odd was it watching the production interview seeing how choked up they were when Danny from Austin’s mom died? I thought the whole segment was very strange; I did not like Danny on his original season, but you can’t help but feel bad for the guy. I also couldn’t imagine knowing that his mom died before he did and then having to watch him find out and not being able to say a word to him.

Why Susie Deserved To Win Survivor: Gabon

I usually hate these types of arguments, but Survivor: Tocantins has not grabbed my attention yet. Let’s travel back in time to last season to Survivor: Gabon. I was not too pleased about Bob being the winner. I felt Susie deserved it a little more.

You see, Susie might not have been the most strategic player or the most dominant, but she has never been given the credit she deserves. She was invisible up until Episode 7. Then she flipped and joined forces with Crystal and Kenny and got rid Marcus. Marcus was one of those Survivors who seemed destined to make the final 3. On paper he was perfect: Harvard educated, athletic, and an alliance leader.

Marcus was the leader in his majority alliance. At Episode 7 everyone thought someone from the Kota tribe was going to win the million dollars. Then Susie was offered a better offer and took it. She was the swing vote to get rid of Marcus.

Susie won the first individual immunity challenge. She stuck to her alliance and voted with the majority. Susie then won the most crucial immunity challenge. If she didn’t win she would have been voted off. The win also gave Susie a free ticket to the final three and the chance to face the lovely jury

The other two finalists, Bob and Sugar, made terrible arguments on why they should win the million dollars. Susie’s argument was not much better, but at least she tried to answer some of the unanswerable questions the jury threw her way.

Oh, and there was no way Randy was the swing vote, but even if he was, he gave a pretty petty excuse not to vote for her. If I had a choice between someone who thought I was overdramatic or someone who humiliated me by making a fake idol and then tried to blame it all on the other person, I would choose the overdramatic person. Obviously Randy thinks a little differently.

Was Susie the best player on Survivor: Gabon? No, not at all. Was she the most dominant? Nope, but she has not gotten the credit she deserves.
